ALA California Girls State 2024

We are excited for you to join us for what we hope will be a life-changing week developing your leadership skills, learning about state and local government processes, discussing important issues with your peers from all over the state, and having fun in this unique environment.

You don't need to be an expert on politics or the government to have a fulfilling experience at

ALA California Girls State. On the first day and throughout the session, your counselors will introduce you to the program, explain different campaigning and voting processes we will use, and be there to support you both in grappling with the "politics" aspect and adjusting to the fast pace of the program. Thus, it's okay for delegates to arrive with different levels of understanding of how these processes work in real life. However, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the essential materials linked below before you arrive so that you can transition into the program more smoothly.

This program will likely be different from any other program you have attended in the past. Feel free to contact your sponsoring ALA Unit, speak with your school counselor, or peruse this website to get prepared to attend ALA California Girls State. We will update this page with more information as the session approaches, but in general we will teach you what you need to know once you arrive.
